Chaired by Kofi Annan, the ten-member Africa Progress Panel advocates at the highest levels for equitable and sustainable development in Africa.

Focus areas

In a rapidly changing world, Africa's policy makers face highly complex choices that will have profound consequences for the continent's future. How can Africa benefit from their mushrooming populations and the world's rising prices of food? How can Africa's 54 nations leverage and influence the tectonic shifts in global power? And how should governments harness oil and mineral reserves to transform natural resources into human capital?

As an independent organisation, the Africa Progress Panel responds quickly and effectively to Africa's changing context and our positions serve all Africans. We identify priority areas for action, based on African needs and our Panel member strengths and experiences. Our priority areas currently include: governance; trade and investment; Millennium Development Goals; agriculture and food security; resource mobilisation; oil, gas, and mining.
